Brightwell Aquatics Refractometer Calibration Standard is a precision seawater reference fluid for calibrating refractometers (and checking hydrometers or density meters) at natural seawater salinity. Calibrating with RO/DI water only sets the zero point – calibrating at 35 ppt ensures your readings are accurate exactly where your reef tank runs.

Why calibrate?
- Refractometers drift over time and with temperature; an error of just 1–2 ppt stresses corals and invertebrates.
- Accurate salinity is essential when mixing new salt water and when topping off.
How to use
- Shake well.
- Clean the refractometer prism with RO/DI water and dry it with a soft cloth.
- Place a few drops of the standard on the prism, close the cover and wait about 45 seconds.
- Adjust the calibration screw until the reading shows 35 ppt (SG 1.0264).
- Clean and dry the prism after use; recap the bottle tightly.
